WOKHA — A vital stretch of road connecting Wokha Police Point to the District Hospital has remained inaccessible for nearly five months following a major cave-in caused by a collapsed culvert. This has severely impacted daily commuters and emergency medical access, leaving residents frustrated and concerned over the past few months.
The affected road, located near Lower Zuvotong Colony, serves as a primary route for residents from High School, Molonsu, Vungoju, and several nearby villages.

Assistant Urban Development Officer Kiniholi Kinimi acknowledged the department’s inability to initiate immediate restoration due to financial constraints. However, she confirmed that the Urban Development Department has approved a restoration package, which includes repairing the collapsed culvert.
The work order was issued about a month ago, but ongoing monsoon conditions have stalled physical work, making it unsafe and impractical to begin construction, the officer said.
She assured the public that restoration efforts would commence as soon as weather permits, and emphasised that the department is aware of the community’s hardships and the urgency of the situation.
