  • DIMAPUR — The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WDCCI) has warned of an indefinite business shutdown within its jurisdiction if Nagaland government fails to address their demand for equitable representation in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

  • In a press release issued on Friday, the WDCCI expressed dissatisfaction with the state government's alleged inaction regarding the business community's demand.“The chamber is deeply concerned as to why some of the district chambers, including Wokha district chamber, were denied nomination by the state government in spite of the fact that each district needs fair representation to move forward at par with other districts in terms of growth and development in every sector,” it stated.According to the WDCCI, the issue was discussed in a joint consultative meeting held on April 23 in Kohima. During the meeting, state government representatives requested an additional two weeks to resolve the matter, it stated.“Hence, if the government fails to address our demand within the stipulated time, WDCCI will go ahead with indefinite business shutdown within its jurisdiction,” it stated.
