The Wokha District Sports Association (WDSA) and Wokha District Sports Council (WDSC) on Friday organised a programme for athletes representing the district in the upcoming Nagaland State & Para Games (NSPG) 2026

WOKHA — The Wokha District Sports Association (WDSA) and Wokha District Sports Council (WDSC) on Friday organised a programme for athletes representing the district in the upcoming Nagaland State & Para Games (NSPG) 2026 (formerly Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games) scheduled to be held in Chümoukedima district in November.
Tracksuits of the district were also distributed to the athletes during the event held at the Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall Wokha.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao, who is also the chairman of WDSC, lauded the commitment and perseverance of the athletes and sports associations despite limited resources and inadequate sports infrastructure in the district.
He stated that the efforts put in by the players and associations in preparing for the event were commendable, while encouraging the athletes to remain confident, uphold good character, and demonstrate humility in both victory and defeat.
“Competition is not only about winning. We must also have the courage to accept defeat gracefully while remaining humble in success,” he said.
Expressing confidence in all the participating disciplines, Tsanglao urged the athletes to represent the district with pride and dedication rather than focusing solely on individual achievements. He encouraged them to strive for excellence, bring laurels to the district, and make Wokha proud through their performances.
The deputy commissioner also assured continued support for the growth and development of sports in the district.
Earlier in the programme, WDSA president Yanrenthung Humtsoe, who chaired the programme, acknowledged the dedication shown across all sporting disciplines.
He also expressed appreciation to the district administration for its support, noting that for the first time, Wokha district is participating in the state-level games with a proper structure and coordinated effort involving all sports disciplines.
He further wished the athletes success and expressed hope that they would return with medals and accolades for the district.
Athletes from 11 sporting disciplines will represent Wokha at the upcoming sporting event.
