WOKHA — A group of residents in Wokha town has come together to carry out temporary repairs on the Wokha District Hospital road, which has remained damaged and partially caved-in for the past five months, affecting access to healthcare services.
Organised through a local WhatsApp group, the initiative involved pooling funds to procure steel and install a makeshift passage measuring 20x7 feet, allowing light vehicles to reach the hospital without needing to take a longer detour.
While temporary, the repair has helped restore regular movement to and from the facility.
Sources said that the Department of Urban Development has sanctioned the road stretch from Wokha Police Point to the District Hospital, but monsoon-related delays have pushed back the start of construction work by the contractor.
