
Dr. CS Prasad, Col. Kartik Thapa, and others following the
valedictory session of the 21-day Winter School at ICAR-National Research
Centre on Mithun in Medziphema.
- DIMAPUR — ICAR-National
Research Centre (ICAR-NRC) on Mithun in Medziphema concluded its 21-day Winter
School, which was held from January 16 to February 5.
- An update stated that this edition of the Winter School saw
significant participation from women, with 12 female and 10 male candidates
representing seven states of India.
- The participants included subject matter specialists from
Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR scientists, and faculty members from state
and central agricultural universities.
- The training programme comprised 65 sessions, including
classroom lectures, field visits, and hands-on training, conducted by over 15
eminent experts from across the country, along with in-house faculty from
ICAR-NRC on Mithun.
- The valedictory session was attended by Dr. CS Prasad,
former vice-chancellor of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University,
former director of ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology,
Bengaluru, and former ADG, ICAR Headquarters, New Delhi, as the chief guest.
- Col. Kartik Thapa, VSM, commanding officer of the 22 Assam
Rifles, and Dr. Nazrul Haque, retired principal scientist (animal nutrition),
attended as guests of honour.
- Dr. Prasad highlighted the key modules covered in the Winter
School and emphasised the importance of collaboration among participants for
knowledge exchange and professional growth.
- Dr. Girish Patil S., director of ICAR-NRC on Mithun,
presided over the function and shared his insights on the significance of such
training programmes in strengthening the overall value chain of Mithun in
Northeast India.
