WOKHA — The
Highlander and LCYO booked their semi-final berths after winning their
respective quarterfinal matches played at Wokha local ground on Saturday.
In the first match of the day, Comets CC won the toss and
set a target of 137/10 in 19.4 overs against LCYO.
Comets CC started on a strong note with contributions from
Renben Kikon (21), Nchumbemo Kikon (32) and Thungchamo (26). However, the
tailenders failed to add to the scoreboard.
Chasing the target, LCYO's openers Nzanthung with 23 runs
and Renbemo (58 runs) created havoc for the Comets CC bowlers as the duo
collected 81 runs between them.
After their departure, Lijanbemo's unbeaten 31 runs led the
team to victory in 14.1 overs.
Faizul Haque was the standout bowler for Comets CC, taking 2
wickets for 10 runs.LCYO won the match
by 6 wickets, with Renbemo adjudged Man of the Match.
In the second match of the day between Highlander and Kohima
Hornbills, Highlander, who won the toss and opted to bowl first, restricted
their rivals to 109/10 in 18.5 overs.
Anga and Tapitu failed to score, leading to the collapse of
the top order.
Vitoshe (26) and Lanu (15) stabilised the innings to reach
the three-figure mark. Hiketo Aye (4-0-23-4) and Shamphri (4-0-20-2) were the
standout bowlers for Highlander.
Chasing the low target, Highlander's openers Hiketo and
Shamphri contributed 35 runs in the first two overs. Despite the fall of their
openers, Highlander's batters remained resilient, chasing down the target in
11.1 overs.
Anguka top-scored with 25 not out even as Highlander won the
match by 5 wickets, with Hiketo adjudged Man of the Match.
