Mokokchung, Dec. 16 (EMN): A three-day winter carnival organised by the Sangtemla Youth Association (SYA) kicked off on a colourful note with much fanfare at Town Hall premises in Mokokchung town on December 16 evening.
The winter carnival was inaugurated by the chairman of Sangtemla Ward, Imliyanger Jamir, while the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev. Luin Jamir.
SYA officials informed that folk artistes from Mokokchung district would make special appearances during the carnival’s live show. It informed that that first-night special appearance was Meyitemsu Naga, the first Naga dancer to represent the state in one of India’s biggest reality dance shows ‘India’s Best Dancer’ and other artistes.
On the second night, stage would be set for the oldies bands from Mokokchung and the last night would be a night of laughter wherein ‘Kazukuptok,’ a comedian group, would take the center stage, it was informed.
The first night witnessed people from all walks of life thronging the venue to have a glimpse of the various attractions the carnival offered after the state government announced extension of existing lockdown measures and relaxations.
People were seen enjoying the fanfares and tasting the various delicacies in the food stalls, children playing in the kid corners and young boys and girls posing for a lens in the photo booths.
SYA officials also informed that it has put up a donation box at the venue where the amount collected from the donation box would be utilised for coaching to students of classes 10 and 12 from next year onwards.
They further informed that the latest SOP directives given by the district administration are being fully enforced at the carnival along with Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.
