Kohima, July 17 (EMN) : Chief Minister Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Monday made it clear that the NPF party will opt for fresh and better candidates in the next State general election, in case the dissident NPF legislators fails to turn back to the party fold.
Speaking to media persons at his office chamber this afternoon, the chief minister criticized the dissident NPF legislators for neglecting their responsibilities and hiding, which he pointed out as a failure on the part of a responsible government.
“Can we have a good government with this kind of legislators,” the CM questioned reiterating that they will select new candidates to fill up the gaps of the dissident legislators, in case they do not respond positively to the reconciliation process which the party initiated.
“Some of the NPF family members are away from home. We will welcome them, the prodigal sons, if they return, because they are from the same family. We have already revoked the suspension of the MLAs and MP Neiphiu Rio. We want to open the way for reconciliation,” he said adding “if they (dissident members) want to have a share in the inheritance, they should come back.”
“These members have forgotten their family and ran away from home,” the CM regretted. “Just for money power, there are few friends who want to dislodge this government,” he added.
Stating that the DAN alliance is intact and strong, he reiterated that the division is just an internal crisis and should be solved by the NPF members.
Asked on why independent legislators were also involved if it is an internal affair, he clarified stating that the independent legislators has “no effect” to what is being faced by the NPF party at the moment .
In regard to the floor test which is being demanded by the TR’s camp, the Chief Minister stated that it (floor test) can be done if any legislator tables a “No confidence motion”.
“If anybody tables a ‘no confidence motion’, then only the Governor can challenge for floor test. There is no point to prove my majority if nobody files a no confidence motion,” he stated.
Dr Shürho further stated that “there is no reason to impose President Rule in the State.”
On late Sunday night’s incident where some unknown miscreants burnt some vehicles, the CM blamed the dissident legislators stating that they themselves must have done it out of desperation.
Replying to a query on Pillai’s case, the CM strongly stated that he is no position to support corrupt leaders.
“We have asked the papers from the income tax department. If we get the evidences, we will hand over it to the CBI,” the CM said wondering why they should be so scared of CBI if they are not wrong.
