Dimapur, Feb. 29 (EMN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has affirmed on being vigilant, and to act and ensure that the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act of 1989 is effectively enforced.
The affirmation to this effect was taken during an emergency meeting of the organisation with its constituent units on February 29, updates stated. The meeting was convened to discuss further course of action on expiry of the seven-day ultimatum that was served to the Excise department on February 21 in regard to the closure of all liquor outlets in Dimapur.
The union, in a statement issued by its media cell, appreciated the prompt action of Zhaleo Rio, advisor for Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs.
The union and its units have decided to extend full cooperation to the department in concern and enforcing authorities. It also warned of stern action against erring government officials if they are found engaged in malpractices.
The DNSU appreciated the Naga Tribal Union of Chümoukedima Town, Christian Forum of Dimapur, Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation, Central Nagaland Tribes Council, Dimapur Ao Baptist Pastors' Fellowship, and well-wishers for their support to the cause. It has urged the public to continue in the same spirit to make the society better.
