Wildfire ravages houses in Jalukie

Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): Two residential buildings including other properties and about 200 rubber plants were reported to be reduced to ashes by wildfire which broke out on March 29 midnight at Samjai colony in New Jalukie village under Peren district.

According to a report from chairman of New Jalukie Village Disaster Management Authority, household materials such as kitchen utensils, almirah, bed, rice bags, cloths and others were destroyed in the fire. It stated that the village authority could not salvage any item due to the nationwide lockdown on Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the village disaster management authority has appealed to the concerned higher authority to provide immediate relief assistance to the victims on the humanitarian ground. It added that the victims are in dire need of basic assistance at this crucial period.
