Dimapur, July 1 (EMN): A seasonal wild-mushroom considered as a delicacy to many is drawing large number people to Kidima village.
Mushroom stall at Ritsonyüzade junction (Kohima- Viswema- Zuketsa; Chakhabama- Mao road) on the way to Phek, Meluri, Kiphire in Kidima vegetable village is the centre of attraction as people stand in queue to grab their share of the rare delicacy.
Many mushrooms grow during summer. The wild-mushroom vegetation suits the soil and moderate climate of Kidima. Mushrooms are unique gift which add to the beauty of the land during its season as well provide for food to the dwellers.
The indigenous mushroom has high demand for domestic consumption and to cater to restaurants and hotels. It is organic free from air, water and soil pollution. Varieties of mushrooms grow throughout the year in Kidima some of which are not edible.
Mushroom is an added asset for the people apart from cultivation. The villagers collect mushroom besides their normal work in the field. Mushrooms are collected at dawn, day and evening to meet the demand of the customers.
