Dimapur, April 17
One wild dog rescued by EFG organization from Kangching village in Longleng district on April 15 was donated to Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Dimapur, on April 16.
EFG Director, Keduolhoukho Chadi said the main objectives of the rescue was to create awareness to the people about the endanger species which are almost extinct due to human cruelty towards wildlife. Stating that EFG alone could do nothing, he however said with cooperation of every individual in protecting wildlife and environment would give greater impact towards the maintaining ecological balance. He said the present generation should be responsible in ‘word and work’ to achieve the goal.
Researcher at NZP said wild dogs are rare endangered species in Naga habitat areas. He expressed concern that continuous deforestation and hunting had precipitated threat to wild dogs and even to other endangered species. He also gave his moral support towards the initiatives of the EFG.
Deputy Ranger of NZP, Thripong Sangtam, also encouraged and appreciated the EFG organization for the concern over protection of wildlife in particular and environment in general. EFG and NZP looked forward to collaborate with each other in days to come.
