WITH the signs of the end times at hand, what is the need of the hour now? The signs of godlessness are already prevalent in our communities, in our state, in our nation and in this world. People are now lovers of themselves, , lovers of money, boastful proud abusive, disobedience to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- having a form of godliness but denying its power. The emergence of false prophets are also witnessed and the deception of heresies and false doctrines are also clear to our eyes. However for these deceivers their acts will only add to their sins and it will not be wise for them to continue in the evils of it. God’s wrath against such sinners will be severe and our prayer is for them to come to the way of truth. Here my emphasis is on prayer because it is only through it that we can live victorious lives. It is the only means to over come every hindrances and obstacles. Since the last days are on the prayers of the Church must get better, it should grow stronger, rising higher and higher till it reaches God. The sins of this world are destined to increase and it will be to the Church’s glory to pray much in these last days. The acts of accusations will not work; neither will the acts related to it. To come to the point of our topic, it is prayer we need, it is prayer the world needs and it will only be better to pray than to let the world perish. In the scripture we read of how Abraham interceded for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and we also find it was destroyed and couldn’t be saved. The truths of it are a concern for us too and if the sinners needs to be saved it is for us to pray for them too. The prophet Jeremiah grieved for his people, the nation of Israel, so must we and even as Christ wept for his people and the world, we must walk in His footstep. The desire of God’s people must be to save, to pray and to live for the glory of God. The world is still in darkness and since it will be dark in hell, every sinner must be warned, even adulterers, murderers and prostitutes. The scripture says “Christ did not die for the righteous but for the sinners” and as the truths are clear to us we must pray till we receive what we desire. The salvation of our souls was the reason of Christ ‘ sacrifice and it will be immature to only sleep more when we should be praying more. The Word exhorts us to desire the greater gifts and if the desires of it are in us, our every act should represent the truth; it should glorify the truth. The world we live in has become so wicked and though there may not be another flood like the flood of Noah’s time, the incoming judgment of God against the world will be severe than the first two phases of destruction. This is understood and the sins of the world are clear to our eyes and it will be wiser for God’s people to see the world in the way of the truth. In the recent past, when there was an earthquake in Nagaland, there were so many boys and girls, drinking, dancing and partying. And when the earthquake came, they became so scared that they began to cry and started confessing their sins. Corresponding to this, some years back in a Pub in Indonesia, there were so many men and women, who were drinking, dancing and partying and in that same place terrorist detonated a bomb. Truth is they must have suffered so much and it is certainly a warning in itself. To speak of the nature of the world it cannot be saved, neither can it be healed because of the decreed destruction against her. We read in the scripture of the mentioned sins and we are also aware of what its wages are. It is to our knowledge that there are many sins, even as there are many sinners, and if they are dear to us should not we pray for them? We must see this clearly and think of it seriously. For as we know who we are and what we represent, the acts of our ways must be in conformity with the Scriptures. To pray at all times, to pray unceasingly is what the Bible exhorts us and it is what everyone must be inflamed with. Not to pray just once or to love just once, we have to pray at all times and love at all times. The desire to live in God’s will must be our passion and the desire should increase as we set our hearts on where our treasures are. In relation to the above illustration, when they danced, they must have joked and the way they died was a tragedy and it is sad. Such are the wages of sins and if our love for such sinners is true should not we pray for them? The truth regarding this is that there are so many who dies without any warning and even as we come this far it is really a mystery. Most of us had not been so holy and it is only by grace that we live. I don’t say this because I am so holy, so pure and completely righteous. No, but even in my vileness as I had been shown much mercy, forgiven much I have to love much. Truth is I would have been dead long ago but I come this far by God’s grace. And if we know how great our sins were, should not we be filled with greater grief? Remember what the scripture says “To whom much is given, much will be asked and for those who has nothing even what he has will be taken from him”. Does this remind you of what you read or are you convicted to answer it in tears. This can only mean two things, either we have it or we don’t. The apostle Paul had much and gained much and with all that he had, he used it for God’s glory. Describing himself as the chief of sinners, this man of God was ashamed of his past sins but never the less he was not ashamed of the gospel. The acts of his former ways led him to greater repentance and the result of it gave rise to greater passion. This man was filled with such great knowledge and to keep him from being conceited , he had to be tormented with a thorn in the flesh. Such great zeal can only come from the Most High and we find how he cried when his people sinned and how he rejoiced when the people turned to the way of truth. The way he lived depicted so many things in the scripture and as he was loved much he also grieved much. Thus the scripture states “ For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief” . ( Ecclesiastes 1:18 ) The revelations of it takes us closer to the core of this message and if prayer is the need of the hour now, should not we pray more or will anyone dare sin more. Remember, it was for our sins Christ died and suffered and it is the only key to eternal life. Mark this: It is not just enough to be saved but it is important to truly love God. So from all that had been written and read we trust you will pray more in the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God means salvation and it is only by the powers of it that everyone can be saved. May the God who prayed and prays for us give us the grace to pray in love. God is the key to everything, even salvation. N:B: The truth regarding us is that we are saved because of prayer, we live because of prayer and it will not be wise not to pray when we should. God expects us to keep our houses in order, our churches in order and most importantly He expects us to keep everything in order when He returns. The Church must pray, God’s people must fast and the lost must be reached out. God is the witness to everything.
