The Prosperity Gospel teachers belong to Word Faith Movement. To understand these faith healers, we have to understand the beliefs of Word Faith Movement since they are all birds of the same feathers. A movement is not a church or a denomination. A movement means a revolution to change existing things like established Christian doctrines. Prosperity Gospel teachers focus on health and wealth. They preach very little of or no word of repentance, forgiveness of sin and salvation. In short they ignore the central Gospel of Christ, to redeem sinners.
1. Most of the highest regarded Word of Faith teachers have not been to a legitimate seminary. Most of them were taught from listening to tapes from other Word Faith teachers and not from studying the Bible.
2. The Word of Faith Movement is obsessed with wealth and materialism and the worship of money. The Word of Faith Movement revolves around all means to obtain health and wealth.
3. The Word of Faith leaders teach that Jesus was wealthy although the scripture is very clear that he was not.
4. According to the Word of Faith Movement, God was able to create the universe because he has faith.
5. According to the Word of Faith Movement, our words have power. If you have a knee pain, speak to your knee, tell the pain to go away and you will be healed.
6. Adam is god in the flesh just like Jesus was in the flesh. So, we are all god in the flesh. We are god without upper case G (a human being is a god not God).
7. Although the Word of Faith leaders do extensive teaching on faith and healing, it does not bear fruit on their members or in their own lives. Many of them died of tumors, cancer and heart diseases.
8. The Word Faith Movement (as the name suggests) teaches that words spoken from a human have inherent and creative power of their own, because we are like God who spoke the universe into existence out of nothing. The Word of Faith leaders teach that we are little gods and that we can act and perform much as God can. A doctrine common with the Mormons.
9. They claim that God lives on a planet in outer space.
10. Kenneth Copeland described God’s bodily attributes. God had a heart, hands, a finger, nostrils, a mouth with lips and a tongue, feet, eyes and eyelids, a voice, breath, ears, hair, head, face, arms, and loins. God wears clothes, eats, sits on His throne, and walks.
11. In 1991, Benny Hinn said he visited the grave of prophetess Kathryn Kuhlman and received his anointing. This is necromancy, consulting the dead, and forbidden by God. King Saul did the same thing with the help of the witch of Endor (1 Samuel 28). Benny Hinn was once in a plane crash. In his sermon, he said he walked out from the plane without a scratch. Several newspapers reported that all six passengers suffered injuries but were released after two days. Benny Hinn suffered injuries and shock. He was heard saying that he will never fly again. Benny Hinn claimed that he raised a dead man in Ghana. Investigation into his claim found no witness or report of any man rose from the dead by him.
12. They preach provision and protection of God but are always surrounded by security personnel whether they are preaching or relaxing at home.
13. "Planting the seed" according to them is not sowing the Gospel to harvest souls. It means giving donations to their ministries so that you will get tenfold or a hundredfold financial harvest. Word of Faith teachers live the lifestyles of the rich and famous and flaunt it as a testimony of God’s favour while the people that are sending in their money get nothing.
14. Word Faith Movement claims that God is six feet two inches tall and weighs a little more than 200 pounds.
15. According to Word of Faith, Jesus teaches that you will have what you say. Word of Faith requires almost nothing from you. You don't need to have faith or God. You say what you want and it will be yours. The Word of Faith is humanism. It puts man in charge of everything and God in the backseat.
16. The Word of Faith leaders do an enormous amount of teaching on submission to authority. It keeps people from expressing hurts and concerns. It makes people feel like they cannot leave their church for any reason. The Word of Faith creates fear, bondage, and a distorted unbiblical viewpoint of God.
