DIMAPUR — The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has expressed displeasure over the alleged “derogatory remarks” made by a YouTuber operating under the channel ‘Tsatingla Sangtam’ in connection with the recent Dimapur Supermarket (Naga Shopping Arcade) altercation, despite the matter having already been resolved through a public apology.
“Her statements—mocking and demeaning the organisation’s arbitration, provoking caste sensitivities, drawing comparisons with incidents outside Nagaland, and disparaging the Sumi community—are deemed deeply provocative, disrespectful, and misleading,” the WSYF stated.
The front also maintained that citing incidents outside Nagaland distorts facts, while insulting her husband and the Sumi community was “deeply offensive.”

“Such reckless statements only serve to dilute the unity of our people and mislead the public. Affairs in public domain cannot be influenced by individual prejudice. It must also be recalled that the derogatory remarks made by the non-local against the Nagas had already been addressed and settled through a public apology,” it stated.
The WSYF expressed strong disapproval of attempts to discredit the organisation and urged restraint in public discourse. It also warned of potential legal action against the YouTuber for alleged defamation, inciting public violence, communal hatred, and disrupting public order.
The front emphasised that freedom of speech has limitations, particularly concerning public order and morality.
“While calling for mutual respect between locals and non-locals in business, the WSYF emphasises that the marketplace must remain a space of fairness, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.
“The organisation reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding indigenous rights while striving towards a just, fair, and self-reliant economy in Dimapur and Nagaland,” it added.
