DIMAPUR — The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has strongly condemned the incident at a roadside food stall in Burma Camp, Dimapur, where a group of unidentified individuals, reportedly in a black Thar vehicle, assaulted a food stall vendor over the low quantity of meat served.
In a condemnation note, the WSYF stated that the group allegedly rammed their vehicle into the food cart several times and threatened to set it on fire.
Describing the act as senseless, the WSYF stated that it reflected a disturbing disregard for the dignity and livelihood of hard-working citizens earning through honest means. It said, “No grievance, however small or big, justifies the destruction of another person's property or livelihood.”
The organisation termed the incident an alarming sign of growing lawlessness and moral decay, urging law enforcement authorities to take immediate and decisive action to bring the culprits to justice.
“The culture of fear, arrogance, and impunity that fuels such hooliganism has no place in a civilised society,” the WSYF stated.
Appealing to the youth, it called on them to be “torchbearers of discipline and respect” and to stand united against acts of cowardice and violence. It added that such behaviour would not be tolerated in society.
