DIMAPUR — The
Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has expressed serious concern and alarm over what it
alleged as “rampant illegal development activities” at the disputed Kiyevi
village land in violation of status quo order.
WSH stated that it was highly disturbed by the constant
development works that is being undertaken in and around the Lamhainamdi
settlement despite the standing government order vide GAB-1/333/2014 (Vol-1)
dated June 25, 2019 for maintaining status quo in the said area.
It maintained that on the strength of the said status quo
order, the people of Kiyevi village have been strictly restrained from carrying
out any activities including the cultivation of their bonafide farmland,
plantation etc., whereas on the other hand it accused the settlers of
Lamhainamdi of continuing with major development works unabated in and around
the settlement.
It went on to allege that the rampant development activities
in the dispute area is being perpetrated and escalated with the direct
involvement, help, support and assistance of the Home minister of Nagaland, Y
Patton, and the minister of Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye.
“The actions of our leaders have raised grave concerns and
sparked serious questions about their true intentions and commitment to
preserving communal harmony and peace within the Naga community. This not only
violates the government’s status quo order but also fuels communal discord and
violence among communities,” WSH stated through its media cell.
In light of the above stated circumstances, the hoho urged
all right-thinking Nagas to take notice of “this hand-handedness by some
high-profile leaders and ministers, who are pumping huge resources into the
illegal development of a disputed area.”
