DIMAPUR— The Western Satoi Range Public Union (WSRPU) has demanded the Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS) department to immediately release the rice quota under “disaster relief’ to ten villages under Satoi Block in Satakha sub-division, Zunheboto district.
The WSRPU in a representation to the Advisor, Food and Civil Supplies, dated July 30, stated that despite fervent appeal made to the department, district administration and the supplier (M/S T & P Enterprise), the ten villages are yet to receive their due share of rice under disaster relief.
Quoting official documents received from the departments concerned, the union stated that as per the NSDMA-DRGT-RLF/461/2022/6780 dated September 28, 2022, the tide over rice (Relief Rice Drought 2021) had already been dispatched and received by the department.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]As per another official memo dated March 9, 2023, transport and supplies charges were paid to the transporter M/S T & P Enterprise amounting to INR 10,82,400 for entire Zunheboto district.
The union stated that on July 6, the ADS Zunheboto had intimated to the WSRPU that the transporter had already “received the rice and is still been kept in his godown with the reason unknown to the Department officials.”
“It is to our utter dismay that we are witnessing the irresponsible and lackadaisical attitude of the supplier who gave false assurance to WSRPU on several occasions when we approached him.
“It is sad to learn under the guise of supplying, the contractor have scammed and looted the rice meant for the poor beneficiaries of Satoi Block, Satakha Sub Division Zunheboto,” the union alleged.
While insisting that the relief rice (268 quintal) should be distributed to the ten villages under Satoi Block within 15 days, the WSRPU also demanded “to blacklist and terminate the contract of M/S T & P Enterprise for looting the poor beneficiaries.”
