Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): The 55th wrestling meet of the Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) is scheduled from Feb. 5 to 6 at the Kohima local ground.
72 wrestlers representing the four groups will be competing in Naga wrestling on Feb. 5, followed by the freestyle on Feb. 6.
The inaugural function would be graced by Peteroko Zetsuvi, deputy director of sports, Nagaland University, Kohima campus as the chief guest, while Neivikuolie Khatsü, president, Nagaland Wrestling Association will be the guest of honour on the second day.
The Naga wrestling champion will fetch a catch award of INR 80,000, while the second, third and fourth position winners will receive INR 60,000, 40,000 and 30,000.
In freestyle wrestling, the top two winners in senior category will receive INR 4000 and INR 2000.
As for junior wrestling, the top two winners will be given INR 2000 and INR 1000.
Meanwhile, WASA has called for a meeting with all the tournament officials including referees, judges, jury board, unit presidents, team coaches and managers at Khuochiezie on Feb. 4 at 3 pm.
It further informed that the measurement for the freestyle wrestlers would be done right after the completion of Naga style wrestling on Feb 5.
All the units have also been informed to submit two flags along with the entry fee of INR 8,000.
