DIMAPUR — The Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) has issued an open appeal to authorities, highlighting the deteriorating condition of key roads within the Western Angami jurisdiction.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the WAPO drew attention to the hazardous state of the road between Kezanu (Old KMC dumping site) and Liezocha (Shiv Mandir) on NH-29, the bypass route via Jotsoma, and the four-lane stretch of NH-29 under Western Angami’s jurisdiction.
The organisation described these roads as being in “deplorable and pathetic” condition following months of incessant rainfall, repeated sinking, and landslides.
“Large potholes, cracks, and uneven surfaces have emerged, turning daily travel into a constant risk for vehicles and commuters,” the WAPO stated.

With the rainy season extending beyond October, the organisation warned that these stretches could become extremely hazardous and, in some areas, impassable.
It, therefore, appealed to the authorities concerned —NHIDCL and NPWD—to undertake immediate repair work on the affected stretches; strengthen and reinforce the roads to prevent further sinking or landslide damage; and ensure long-term maintenance to guarantee safe passage for all commuters.
The WAPO warned that failure to act promptly may compel the organisation to initiate measures to safeguard public safety and welfare.
