KOHIMA — ‘Tsali Nyi mu houzha va-14’ (music festival and 14th conference) organised by the Western Angami Baptist Nhicuko Krotho (WABNK) was held at Dzüleke Baptist Church on December 13 and the 14th.
Children from 11 villages under the WABNK participated in various competitions and devotional services.
In his message on Sunday morning devotional service, Rev. Dr. Kedo Peseyie, pastor of City Church Kohima, spoke on the topic 'Faith that stands alone but doesn't stand still.'
He noted that a lot of changes are coming, including in terms of preaching with some preachers calling themselves apostle or prophets. However, he emphasised on the importance of going back to the Scripture.
He also dwelled on Baptist distinctives, highlighting their belief in the sufficiency and authority of Scripture. In Baptist tradition, the Bible is central to worship and guides their exposition-based approach. He contrasted this with charismatic Christianity, which emphasises supernatural experiences.

When it comes to church governance, Baptist churches have deacons and pastors but in the case of some churches, it is individual-based leaderships who call themselves prophets or apostles.
The other Baptist distinctives, he said, are priesthood of all believers, baptism, Lord's Supper, and Christ alone.
As to how should one live and how their faith should be, he said that people need to have faith that is clear and based/build on the word of God, must believe in Trinity — the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and keep a commitment that is serious and a prayer that is objective.
Neisewheno Sirie, mission board convenor of Tenyiphe-1 Baptist Church, delivered a message on the theme ‘Living God's plan for creation and relationship,’ while Dr. Vistoü Yano Tsolo, principal of Modern College, Piphema, spoke on ‘Online temptation and the armour of God.’
