Dimapur, December 9
Business owners and traders in Mokokchung town and the entire district in general has made it clear that they will not “register” with any “group/s” other than statutory bodies established by the law.
The businessmen and traders’ clear stance on who to register with came following a decision on December 9 after it came to light that “certain groups” were issuing so-called notices to business establishments and business owners to “register” with their “groups/s,” according to an angry statement from the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) on Wednesday, December 9.
“It has been brought to the notice of the office of the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industries that certain group/s are issuing unconfirmed notices to traders and business owners to ‘register’ with their group/s,” the MCCI stated.
“MCCI deliberated on this matter at its monthly executive council meeting on December 9 and resolved that traders and business owners in the town and district would not “register” with any group/s other than statutory bodies established by law.”
In other matters, shops and business owners in the town are directed by the MCCI to decorate their shops and establishments by December 11 “on account of the festive season as well as the 125 years celebration of Mokokchung town.”
Members of the MCCI’s action committee will inspect the town on December 11 evening and defaulters, if any, will be imposed fines “as prescribed by MCCI constitution,” the press release added.
