Zunheboto, Nov. 6 (EMN): The advisor of School Education, KT Sukhalu urged the students to fight unemployment issue in the state by taking up entrepreneurship instead of seeking government jobs which is already saturated.
Sukhalu said this at the 19th Biennial General Conference of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) at Zunheboto Government College (ZGC), on Wednesday evening. He was the introductory guest of the opening session of the event with the theme “Transcendence”.
The advisor said new challenges are coming but expressed hope that the “new landing will be favourable.” He acknowledged the efforts of the Government of India and the various NNPGs, for the initiatives taken to come on board the peace talks, and expressed happiness that it will bring positive changes to the Nagas with a new chapter of life.
He therefore appealed to the “educated” to be responsible and ‘not be creators of rumours and false propaganda.’ Maintaining that government job is saturated in the state, having the highest number of government servants in the country as per the population ratio, he asked the students to get trained through the 'Skill India' in order to take up entrepreneurship rather than depending on ‘salary economy’.
Sukhalu also advised the students to be ‘job givers and not job seekers’, stating the human resources in the state is not being properly utilised. He opined that the people should change their attitude and think out of the box to improve the GDP of the state for better economy.
"The past has not been very good to us for various reasons and challenges,” he maintained. “We want better Nagaland, we want better leadership.....it is in your hands,” he told the students.
The advisor also urged the ANCSU to prioritise the purpose of the union and focus on education, ensure facilities and infrastructure in institutions.
Delivering the introductory note of the conference earlier during the programme, the tribunal general of ANCSU, Kuzoto Lohe highlighted the formation of the union and it significance. He said that the union was formed 40 years ago to address the grievances of the students and to fight and resolve the plight of the students.
Lohe maintained that ANCSU has been addressing the issues pertinent to the students and Nagaland in general. He also expressed hope and confidence that the 19th biennial general conference will architect and mould the future by broadening minds and horizon of the students.
Sumi Kiphimi Kukhakulu (SKK) president Atokiho, while sharing greetings, said that the students have the calibre to bring positive changes and urged them to make the best used of their time by believing in themselves. He also urged the students to do away with tribalism and favouristism while being the agent of change.
Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio will grace the inaugural session of the event today, November 7, while MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will grace the cultural session in the afternoon. The conference will conclude on November 8.
