DIMAPUR — The Working Committee of the Naga National Political groups (WC-NNPG) has called for a realistic timeline to resolve the Indo-Naga political issue, stating that continued delay is compounding the hardships of the common people and impeding the progress and prosperity of society.
In a press release issued by its Media Cell following a recent joint consultation convened under the leadership of Convener Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao, the WC-NNPG said senior leaders from all affiliate groups undertook an in-depth deliberation on crucial issues confronting the Nagas and the emerging political landscape of the region.
The WC-NNPG reiterated its commitment to sincerely pursue an inclusive political engagement among Naga political groups and stakeholders to ensure a consolidated approach towards a comprehensive resolution of the Indo-Naga political issue.

While expressing appreciation to former Interlocutors and outgoing Advisor (NE), Ministry of Home Affairs, and Government of India (GoI) representative AK Mishra for their endurance, patience and maturity in sustaining the peace process despite challenges, the WC-NNPG said it is confident that the appointment of new GoI representative Ajit Lal would add fresh momentum to the process.
It further observed that a realistic timeline should be set to resolve the issue, asserting that prolonged delay only adds to the difficulties faced by the people and hampers overall development.
The WC-NNPG also congratulated the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) on the successful execution of the agreement with the GoI for the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA). It said that the breakthrough could pave the way for equitable development and prosperity in the region.
At the same time, it expressed hope that the eastern region, which it described as the “fortress of the Naga struggle,” would devote more energy and resources towards the collective pursuit of an early political solution.
Referring to recent violent incidents within Naga families and other communities in the region, the WC-NNPG expressed sympathy with the victims and appealed to affected communities to abjure violence and initiate dialogue in the spirit of forgiveness and acceptance.
