DIMAPUR — The
Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG), led by N Kitovi
Zhimomi, has reiterated its commitment to safeguard the Agreed Position it had
signed with the government of India on November 17, 2017.
A press release informed that this was one of the decisions
taken during an emergency meeting on Wednesday.
“We, the signatories, reiterate once again which has been
signed with the government of India; we are committed and will stand by the
same historical agreement,” it stated. The signatories were the convenor of
WC-NNPG N Kitovi Zhimomi, and co-convenors Kiumukam, Toshi Walling, and Shitoho
Chophi.
The committee also advised the civil society organisations,
especially religious leaders, “not to jump into Indo-Naga political issue at
this crucial juncture by taking the name of the Almighty God, but may
constantly pray for permanent peace and harmony in Nagaland and Naga family
wherever they are.”
“In order to amicably solve the long-awaited issues, we
hereby declare we are committed and will protect the same historical agreement,
which has been signed by ourselves with the government of India,” it added.
