Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): The Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC NNPG) on Monday stated that “the state government is a child of Indian constitution” as all the 60 legislators owe allegiance to it, and hence “should sing the same tune” on the crucial Indo-Naga political issue.

Appealing for statesmanship from the state government, WC NNPG said that interlocutors may change but not the issue.

“Talks starting afresh with a new chapter could mean different for different people. Every decision, every word of the state government counts at this hour. Naga leaders must instil hope in our people and build on the momentum achieved,” read the press release.

It stated that the government of India’s (GoI) representative for Indo-Naga parleys AK Mishra had “reassured the Nagas that GoI will respect Agreed Position and subsequent negotiated points concluded with former interlocutor Mr. R.N Ravi. Without any deviation, his job will be to take the matter to logical conclusion”.

Maintaining that it have had many fruitful deliberations with the chief minister of Nagaland and cabinet colleagues since the political negotiations began in 2017 and considering the role played by the government in the Indo-Naga issue for several years, the WC NNPG expressed its confidence that “the state government led by Chief Minister will play the perfect facilitator in letter and spirit”.

“At this crucial stage the people of Nagaland must pray for wisdom and statesmanship for the Naga political groups, GoI and Nagaland state government,” read the statement.
