Kohima, Jan. 3 (EMN): Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) will celebrate its 75th anniversary on January 6 and 7 at WAPO ground in Sechii (Zubza) under Kohima district on the theme “Re-strengthening our foundation."
This was announced by the WASU and central organising committee (COC) officials during a press conference on Tuesday at Hotel Lavisto. To be hosted by Sechü (Zubza) Students’ Union, the officials are expecting about 2000 students from 11 units of WASU to attend the celebration.
The officials informed that the leader of NPF legislature party and co-chairman of UDA government, Kuzholuzo Nienu, would be the special guest of the main celebration on January 7, while Mhiesizokho Zinyü, former president of Angami Public Organisation (APO), would be the introductory speaker on January 6.
Keneizhakho Nakhro, MLA and chairman of Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), would be the chief host of the celebration.
During the celebration, greetings would be shared by the presidents of Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO), Kepelhoutuo Chiisi, and Angami Students’ Union (ASU), Bisevi Angami, while WASU president, Ketholezo Rino, would deliver the presidential address.
The introductory service on January 6 would commence from 2 pm onwards followed by extravaganza night. The musical extravaganza at 5 pm would feature Dreamz Unlimited, Meneno Chiicha, Kevikhono Mor, Zuchobeni Tungoe, Mengu Suokhrie, Ruokuovinuo Solo, Kedovito Peseyie, Kezhabou Kuosa and Rokovi Khawakhrie.
The main celebration on January 7 would begin at 10 am.
In this regard, Neidilhoutuo Sechii, co-convenor of central organising committee, has invited all the former presidents and colleagues of WASU, senior student leaders, public leaders, frontal organisations from Western Angami, village council leaders, Angami Students’ Union, Chakhroma Students’ Union, Northern Angami Students’ Union and Southern Angami Students’ Union and well-wishers to join in the celebration.
Meanwhile, the organisers have informed all delegates of 11 units of WASU to wear at least one traditional attire for the celebration, especially on January 7.
Aja Zinyü, COC secretary, has thanked all the well-wishers and donors for their generous contribution towards the 75th year celebration.
