Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): The Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) has denied the allegation made by the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) that the Kohima Science College has been encroached.
A statement from the organisation has claimed that it didn’t find illegal land encroachment by the villagers or individuals at the Kohima Science College during its inspection though the government had “allotted” some portion of land to “individuals/societies/govt. departments.” “Therefore shifting the present Kohima Science College to an alternative site does not arise,” it said.
Meanwhile, the WAPO has urged the government not to misuse the donated land by allotting it to individuals or societies and “to cancel all the illegal allotments and restore the land for the purpose for which it was acquired.” It went on to say that the Kohima Science College is “functioning smoothly” and in the process of upgrading to “Deemed University.”
“At this juncture the WAPO appeal to one and all not to disturb the process,” stated the organisation, while requesting the public to help in making the college a full-fledged university.
In the meantime, the WAPO appreciated the ANCSU for taking up the issue of land encroachment in educational institutions. It also urged the student body to look into land encroachment in all government institutions across the state.
