Dimapur, October 7: A young and budding sharpshooter from Nagaland, Wapangchilla led the NER directorate’s shooting team to win a medal in the Thal Sena Camp. She won a silver medal in an individual category in the Snap shooting event and a bronze medal for the team.
Wapangienla, of 1 Naga Girls Battalion NCC Cadet of class 10 is from GHSS Dillong. During the tournament, She was also tied for a gold medal and in the rematch shootout for the top spot the cadet lost out by a slim margin. But due to her superlative performance the team got the overall bronze medal. The camp was conducted under the agies DGNCC at New Delhi and participated by all Army Cadets of NCC from across the country. During the course of the competition, the cadets were tested for stamina field craft and firing.
In a press release, group commander of NCC, Nagaland Brig MS Nikam stated that the talent identified amongst the girl cadets of 1 Naga Girls Bn NCC has been of high order and that the NCC will encourage such talented youth to continuously get identified and get competition exposure to represent the country in Olympics.
The unit would be organising a felicitation ceremony in an upcoming camp at St Joseph College Jakhama beginning on November 26.
