Dimapur, Feb. 12 (EMN): Wandering Minds held a grand opening of its art gallery ‘Wandering Minds Art Vault’ at Midland opposite Euro Kids on February 10.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest and president of All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA), Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, hoped that Wandering Minds would give wonderful ideas and thoughts towards the substantial development of creative skills. He opined that there should be greater flexibility in the present curriculum so that there is inter-disciplinary exchange and inter-linking of subjects to enable better exposure and utilisation of one’s skills.
Dr. Ahoto also supported holistic learning and conceptualising in the present education system as opposed to rote learning. He stated that Nagaland is among the few states of India which have the highest unemployment rate at present and attributed to the lack of proper industries, medical colleges and lack of support towards educational institutions by the government.
He lamented that though Nagaland has no dearth of skilled and talented people, there are only few individuals and organisations which truly support those skills and talents. He was optimistic that the Wandering Minds would prove to be a platform for the young artists of Nagaland and help them in expressing their unique talents and skills, thereby becoming leaders to lead the future of the young generation.
He further wished the Wandering Minds to grow from strength to strength and also assured his continued support in their endeavours.
It mentioned that Wandering Minds initially started off as an art institute with its focus in child art and guiding young artists to mature in their craft. However, realising that there is a bigger responsibility to nurture talented artists, it widened its horizon, the statement read.
It informed that Wandering Minds currently offers a three year degree course on B.Voc. course in fine arts as well as apprentice course and short term courses on sculpting, calligraphy, painting and drawing.
Keeping its focus on 'learn and earn,' it stated that the ‘Wandering Minds Art Vault’ was set up to encourage the fine art students to display their artworks and make profits out of their hard work. To encourage the students to become independent in their own fields, Wandering Minds also offered a cheque of INR one lakh to fund their 'dream project' and help them become entrepreneurs. The cheque was presented by the chief guest.
