KOHIMA — The V&V Club marked its golden jubilee at Bamboo Hall in Kisama on Saturday, celebrating 50 years since its establishment in 1976.
The host of the jubilee, Advisor for Printing and Stationery and Prisons Kropol Vitsu, lauded the pioneers of the club for their foresight in his speech.
He highlighted the strong unity and bonds shared among the 13 Southern Angami villages and urged members to uphold the same spirit.
Vitsu, himself a member of the club, noted that the organisation has evolved over time and called for the inclusion of new members who meet its criteria, pointing out its role as a lawful and community-orientated body.
Acknowledging the presence of numerous organisations in Nagaland, he stated that the V&V Club has consistently worked for the welfare of the community and should continue to serve as a torchbearer in the Southern Angami region.
MLA and Chairman of DPDB Kohima, Kevipodi Sophie, called upon members to use the jubilee as a moment for honest retrospection and introspection.
He observed that the club was founded with a broad vision for community welfare and challenged members to strengthen engagement and contribute meaningfully to society. He added that the club was established to give back to society and nurture leaders with a sense of responsibility.

Delivering the jubilee message, Convenor of the Golden Jubilee Committee, Nosazol Charles, said the club was born in 1976 out of strong bonds of friendship among like-minded individuals from across the Southern Angami villages.
What began as simple camaraderie has grown into a respected organisation with a broader vision, he stated.
He stressed that the strength of the club lies in its inclusivity, with members drawn from nearly all 13 villages in the region.
"Great achievements come through unity and collective effort," he remarked, adding that while the club may be modest in size, it is rich in character, with both experienced members and energetic youth working together.
Charles expressed confidence that the club would continue to undertake meaningful welfare initiatives for both its members and the wider society.
He also urged members to move forward with renewed purpose, citing past initiatives such as plantation drives aimed at promoting a greener environment.
Extending greetings, President of the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO), Tepul Hopovi, appreciated the contributions of the V&V Club and noted that at 50 years, the club is at a prime stage with the potential to drive unity and peace in the community.
Earlier, V&V Club President Khisanol Viswentso delivered the welcome address, stating that the club was formed by like-minded elders to create a platform for the welfare of the Southern Angami people.
He noted that while April 12 is observed as the club’s annual day, the golden jubilee celebration was rescheduled as the date fell on a Sunday. He added that the club currently has 52 members representing all Southern Angami villages and reiterated its commitment to community welfare and peace-building.
On the occasion, the patron of the jubilee celebration, Vizoto Seletsu, Executive Engineer of the Tourism department, released the golden jubilee souvenir.
