Wokha, May 8 (EMN): Vungoju and LMRSU both won their respective semi final matches today to enter the final of the 18th Lotha Students Union Martyr's Football Trophy. Vungoju FC won over Pangti FC in the first match of the day. Both the teams were tied 1-1 till the final 90 minutes of play. Lepio scored the first goal in the 17th minute for Vungoju FC, where an equaliser from Yenerli in the 36th minute took the match to a standstill after full time play of 90 minutes.
Match official decided to go for another 20 minutes extra time play but to the inconvenience of both the team the match was restricted to 10 minutes additional play. Pangti FC scoring a goal from the boot of Yenerli in the 93rd minute was a short celebration where an equalising goal from Yenshalo in the 96th minute for Vungoju FC restrained to go for a tie-breaker where Vungoju won.
Today Vungoju FC, the two time consecutive winner will witness another day’s play to retain their consecutive third wining strike over 24 affiliated units of the Lotha Middle Range Students' Union (LMRSU).
The second match, played between LMRSU and Renchumren ended in a goalless draw after the full 90 minutes of play. The match had to be decided through a tie breaker due to time constraint with a five goal kick awarded to each teams. A kick each was awarded for both teams where LMRSU keeper Meribemo managed to take his team to safety blocking the hard strike in the last 6th goal kick.
