Mokokchung, July 2: A 12-day extensive volleyball coaching camp organized by a group called Volleyball for Peace culminated on Saturday at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. On the last day, matches between the organizers, 44 Assam Rifles and 164 Naga Regiment (TA) were played.
In the first match between Team Volleyball for Peace and 44 Assam Rifles, the organizers easily defeated the opponent by winning the first and the last set. However, the young team eventually lost to the 44 Assam Rifles as well as the 164 Naga Regiment (TA). SDO (C) of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal, who was the guest of honour lauded the organizers for initiating the event. He noted that volleyball was a sport popular to all people. He also expressed his hope that in Nagaland sportspersons would play a vital role in promoting peace, whether at local or international stage.
Twenty three under -21 participants availed the coaching clinic which was held from June 20 to July 2.
