VLO offices inaugurated at Dhansiripar block

Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): DRDA project director-cum-district mission manager, Dimapur, Kethosituo Sekhose inaugurated the offices of village level organisation (VLO) at Singrijan, Diezephe and Urra under Dhansiripar Rural Development block on April 28.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Sekhose congratulated the residents for successfully forming VLO in their respective villages. Stating that women are capable enough to bring about changes, Sekhose emphasised that by empowering women, the society is inviting changes, an update from Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) stated.

He also urged all the SHGs and VLOs to maintain good book keeping for transparency and accountability. While assuring all possible assistance, he further challenged all the SHGs and VLOs to bring positive change in their respective villages.

M Yimok Phom, additional district programme manager, highlighted NSRLM as a poverty alleviation programme which aims to create an effective and efficient institutional platform to the rural poor by enabling them to increase their household income by means of sustainable livelihood enhancement leading to transformation in lives and economy of the rural household.

She reminded that a platform like SHG is essential to empower rural women adding that through such platforms women would get opportunity to unleash their innate capabilities, get facilitating knowledge and become self-dependent. She concluded her speech by encouraging all the SHG and VLOs with a Bible verse from Galatians 6:9 saying “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”.

The programme was attended by officials of district mission management unit, block mission management unit Dhansiripar, village council members, SHG and VLO members.
