Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): The four-day 42nd conference of the VK Range Students’ Union (VKRSU) hosted at Phushumi village culminated on Jan. 6 with extravaganza bonfire programme.
In introductory session on Jan. 3, Holuvi Chophy, former president SKK and NSF auditor general, spoke on the theme “Specialisation, the essence of the era.”
The inaugural function on Jan. 4 was graced by Khekaho Assumi, parliamentary secretary of youth resource and sports and MTF, as the chief guest.
Assumi exhorted the students to know the value of education and also be responsible for their own future, the press release upadated.
In the cultural session on Jan. 5, Ghovishe Kiba, Class-1 government registered contractor, graced the programme as the chief guest. He also encouraged the students to preserve the culture and identity of the people of VK in particular and Sumi and Naga in general. Wapang T Longchar, NPF president of 28 Assembly Constituency, also graced the valedictory session as the chief guest of honour. In his speech, he called upon the gathering to encourage building relationships between Aos and Sumis in particular and among the Naga tribes in general.
The conference also consisted of spiritual awakening programme especially for student delegates where pastor Vitoka Kinny preached on the theme “Acclimatise with challenges ahead.”
The final day was marked with a seminar on the theme “Self reliance on agro based economy.” The resource persons were Dr. Visakho Shunyu, SMS Genetics and Plant breeding, KVK NU Lumami; Naro Anichari, programme assistant Home Science, KVK NU Lumami; and Kakuho Assumi, GB and national award holder for coffee plantation.
Izheto Students’ Union led the praise and worship throughout the conference.
The extravaganza night also witnessed couple show in which Niku Yeptho of VKTSU and Inapu Chishi of Maromi LSU were crowned as Miss and Mr VKRSU 2018 respectively.
Sastami Students’ Union emerged as the overall champion and Izheto Students’ Union emerged as the runners up while Litta New Students’ Union were awarded the best disciplined unit for 2018.
