Vivela Club Kohima celebrates its 50th anniversary with a jubilee parade and cultural programme attended by Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu and Dr. Tseilhuotuo Rhutso.

DIMAPUR — The Vivela Club Kohima marked its golden jubilee with a culmination programme and a cultural and entertainment evening at the Multi-Utility Hall, Gorkha Public Panchayat Complex, Kohima, on December 20.
The events were held on the theme “Celebrating the past, envisioning the future”.
The culmination programme began with a jubilee parade participated in by members of the club in jubilee uniform, supported by the pipe band of 13 Assam Rifles and traditional Gorkha musical instruments played by members of the North Eastern Region Service Nepali Association (NERSNA).
According to a press release, the parade started from Seyie Gas Agency Junction and concluded at the Gorkha Public Panchayat complex, Chandmari.

The morning session was attended by Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, advisor to the chief minister, as the special guest; Theja Meru, chairman of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), as the guest of honour; and Ranjeet Lama, advisor to the Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK), as the honoured guest.
Speaking on the theme, Santu Thapa, advisor to Vivela Club and organising secretary of VCGJCC, reflected on the journey of the club over the past five decades. He stressed the need to honour the sacrifices of past leaders while moving forward with renewed vision, unity, and responsibility.
In his address, Dr. Keditsu appreciated the contributions of the club and acknowledged the Gorkha community as an integral part of society. He assured that the community is secure and respected and need not have any apprehensions about its future.
Theja Meru stated that his interaction with the office bearers and pioneers had given him insight into the contribution of the Gorkha community. Ranjeet Lama also spoke on the contribution of the club in fostering goodwill with other communities.
The programme included a cultural segment featuring a Hindi solo song by Dhurbo Gurung and a traditional Nepali group dance by Shristi and her party.
The cultural and entertainment evening held later was attended by Dr. Tseilhuotuo Rhutso, MLA, as the special guest; Thephuzakie Suohu, general secretary of Tsütuonuomia Khel Council, Kohima village, as the guest of honour; and Prem Kumar Thapa, general secretary of the Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA), as the honoured guest.
Dr. Tseilhuotuo Rhutso highlighted several needs of the Gorkha community, with special reference to the demand for OBC status. He assured his continued support to the community.
Thephuzakie Suohu lauded the club for its socio-cultural contributions and stressed the importance of sanitation and cleanliness. Prem Kumar Thapa reflected on the emergence of various clubs during the 1970s, noting that Vivela Club has stood the test of time.
The evening featured performances by the Mothers’ Group and young girls, along with songs by the Vivela Club Band.
