Kohima, Sep. 8 (EMN): Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports Zale Neikha attended the ‘Parents’ Day and Cultural Fest’ of Viswema Baptist School in Viswema village, in Kohima district, as its guest speaker on Sat. Sept. 8.
Speaking on the occasion, Neikha commended the sacrifices of parents in shaping the future and development of their children. He said parents are ‘next to God on earth’ and therefore students ought to obey and respect their parents, while also appealing to parents to give ample time towards the children and provide suitable environment for them to pursue their studies.
To teachers, he encouraged creation of space for co-curricular activities such as sports, debate and extempore, singing competition, fitting them within the school curriculum.
The legislator stressed that there should be mutual understanding between the teaching fraternity and the school managing board in solving issues and problems.
Calling upon the students to inculcate the habit of raising questions in order to develop their learning skills, he advised them to set proper time schedule for study.
He also emphasised on responsible usage of gadgets like mobile phones, stating that they should be utilised for garnering information and knowledge and not be misused.
Neikha challenged the students not to give up when faced with failures, but to rather work and strive harder to achieve the desired goal.
In his concluding remark, he hailed the visionary church leaders who initiated the foundation of Viswema Baptist School. He remarked that the Viswema Baptist Church was doing a great service to God and humanity through its mission of moulding the young minds in the educational process and also in imparting the morals of a Christian.
Earlier, Viswema Baptist Church pastor Rev. Atha Neikha invoked God’s blessing to the programme. Performances of students including dance, singing, folk song/dance, recitation, choreography marked the occasion.
