
Dimapur — Nagaland Optometric Association (NOA) celebrated ‘World Optometry Day’ on March 23 at Hotel Ura in Kohima on the theme “Optometrist for better eye care.”
On the occasion, the association members visited some orphanage homes and conducted free eye check-up and provided free spectacles and medicines to children.
In Kohima district, the check-up was conducted at Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, while in Chümoukedima district, the check-up was conducted at Nagaland Children’s Home, and in Dimapur, the check-up was conducted at Bethany Manna Orphanage at Kuda B, Ashuhe Mao Colony.
An update from the association stated that a general meeting was also conducted on that day, where its president delivered the welcome address and the general secretary gave a brief report on the journey of the association.
It added that some members gave presentation on the topics such as paediatric optometry, cerebral visual impairment, amblyopia, binocular vision and vision therapy in amblyopia.
It further stated that a report on the OCICON conference conducted by the Optometry Council of India was also presented during the meeting.
