Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN): The Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) has demanded stringent punishment against the persons allegedly responsible for perpetrating violence on a minor girl, on August 20 in Mokokchung. Likewise, the organisation has sought action against those who were responsible for making a video of the incident and spreading it. The NMA issued a press release on Monday. Also, the NMA appealed to the Nagaland State Child Rights Commission and the Nagaland Commission for Women to inquire into the case besides providing counselling and rehabilitation to the victim. 'The Naga Mothers Association is aghast at a video violence of a minor girl by some women in Mokokchung on August 20 which went viral on social media,' the organisation stated. “We strongly condemned the incident of violence on a young girl by three accused, two of whom are women themselves. Moral policing and violent acts by taking the law into ones hands are criminal activities.” While lauding the prompt action of Mokokchung police in arresting the perpetrators, the NMA appealed for justice for the young woman as her modesty was outraged. Likewise, the mothers demanded ‘punishment for making the video which had gone viral.’ ‘We appeal to the Nagaland State Child Rights Commission and the Nagaland Commission for Women to do necessary inquiry on the case so that justice prevail and also provide counselling and proper rehabilitation for the victim,’ the note added.
