A house in Ungma village where INC candidate Toshipokba Longkumer had set-up camp for the election was ransacked by alleged opposition party supporters on late Monday evening, sources said.
According to the source, the house belongs to a relative of the candidate and the incident occurred around 9:30 pm.
Another source also disclosed that right after the polling got over at Ungma village on February 27, suspected supporters of INC candidate vandalised two houses which led to more confrontation between the two parties.
Later, the supporters of the opposite party ransacked the INC candidate’s house, the source said.
Sources added that police personnel immediately reached the spot after receiving the information; however, no arrest has been reported in this incident.
It further informed that there few injuries were reported and a case has been registered under Police Station II (PS II), Mokokchung in this connection.
Meanwhile, around 8 pm on Tuesday evening, minor stone pelting was reported between the two parties at Ungma village. IRB personnel were immediately deployed from PS II and the situation was brought under control.
