Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): A programme on violence against women was conducted from July 25 to the 31st, at Kubolong in Mokokchung district, for the communities of Khanimu, Longjang, Longpha, Chami, Mopungchuket and Sungratsu villages.
The event's organisers issued updates on Thursday informing about the programme, organised by the district centre for women Mahila Shakti Kendra in collaboration with the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) of Kubolong.
The resource person for the programme was Moamenla Longkumer, women welfare officer, the updates stated. The assistant commissioner of Mokokchung Rohit Singh also was at the event.
In her address, Longkumer spoke about the three types of violence against women. These types are domestic violence, community violence and state violence, the updates stated. She talked about different services that are being provided for women in emergencies. These are women helpline 181, Sakhi One Stop Centre, and legal aid services, counselling services and other helplines which will be available 24x7 for women, the updates stated.
Topics about government schemes and programmes, training and capacity building activities for empowerment of rural women were also discussed during the programme, the updates stated.
