19-year old Vilokali Zhimomi is the new herald of feminine beauty for the Sumi community. Zhimomi, who a spires to become a journalist, is Miss Sümi for 2016.

The beauty was crowned at a glamorous event on Tuesday night at the NER Agri Expo Site, at 4th Mile in Dimapur. The pageant was jointly organised by the Sümi Totimi Hoho and the Western Sümi Totimi Hoho.
Peniel Achumi, a 23-year old, was declared the first runner-up while a 21 year old Viboli V. Achumi took the second place.
Miss Sümi Vilokali has won four subtitles namely Miss Photogenic, Miss Perfect 10, Miss Fluent Sümi and Best Ramp Walk.
Other subtitle winners include Miss Congeniality Toholi I Kibami; Miss Flawless Skin Peniel Achumi; Miss Beautiful Smile Viboli V. Achumi; Miss Radiant Hair K. Livika Sumi; Best Traditional Attire Alikali V. Chophi and Best Etiquette Toinali H. Aye.
The winner walked away with cash prize of Rs. one lakh, besides gift hampers; the first and the second runners-up were awarded Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000, respectively besides gift hampers.
All the subtitle winners also walked away with Rs. 15,000 along with gift hampers.
At the formal programme, the chief guest, minister of roads and bridges Vikheho Y Swu described the Sümi community as a blessed tribe ‘because the members of the community were spread across Nagaland.’ The community should take advantage of that and promote unity among the Naga people, he said.
Swu said that over the years beauty pageants had ‘evolved and incorporated social issues’ thus becoming more ‘holistic.’ Stating that international beauty pageants now focused on promoting “beauty with purpose,” the chief guest encouraged the organisers to take the Miss Sümi event forward with definite purposes and vision to address social issues.
The minister also suggested tha t the organisers create avenues for Miss Sümi so that she can be self-sufficient and also be an ambassador for Clean Election Campaign, or to promote peace and harmony in the Naga society.
Earlier, Miss Sümi 2016, which was held with the theme “Hi No Sülimi (Echt Sülimi)”, began with the ethnic wear round in which the contestants displayed traditional Sümi attires and introduced themselves followed by modern ethic wear round.
The panel of judges were Patricia Zhimomi, Dr. Hokishe Kiho, Dr. Khekugha Murru, and Vini Pitoho Chophy and K Atoli Sema.
