Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): Ighanumi village has issued an ultimatum to the department of School Education to appoint graduate teachers (GT) and headmaster (HM) to Government High School (GHS) Ighanumi within 15 days.
In a joint statement, Isak Lohe, Village Council Chairman; Kuvutoli Sumi, President, Ighanumi Students’ Union; and Yevishe Achumi, President, Ighanumi Youth Organisation; stated that it had submitted representations to the principal director on December 2, 2021, and then on March 21, 2022 and June 17, 2022, to appoint or re-deploy two Maths GT, one English GT and three general GT.
It stated that the school is currently functioning with only three graduate teachers, while it does not have an HM or an assistant headmaster.
‘Despite having submitted several representations, the concerned department has again issued a redeployment order for the transfer with post of GT (General) from Government High School Ighanumi, Zunheboto,’ read the statement.
NOC for transfer with post was not issued from concerned village authority, it added.
It said that GHS Ighanumi has been one of the best performing schools under Zunheboto district for seven consecutive years, securing 87.5% pass percentage in HLSC 2021.
It, therefore, urged the concerned authority to address their grievances, keeping in mind the 16 students who will be appearing in the upcoming HSLC examination, and also not compromising the future of lower grade students.
