Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): Dimapur district legal services authority (DDLSA), in collaboration with Sisterhood Network, has conducted legal awareness on various topics at Aoyimti village community hall on June 21.
Speaking on ‘objective of legal aid services,’ Rokovitsu Khate, DDLSA panel lawyer, has apprised on the objectives of legal aid services which aims at delivering justice to one and all by providing free legal services to the weaker sections of the society. He also briefly highlighted on Lok Adalat and the person entitled to get free legal aid.
Speaking on domestic violence, Moatila, DDLSA panel lawyer, asserted that abusing of women economically and emotionally comes under domestic violence. Moatila has encouraged the women to know their rights guaranteed under the provisions of law.
On Right to Information (RTI), Yambemo Ngullie, DDLSA panel lawyer, has explained on how to file RTI, stipulated period of filing and receiving the reply of RTI, and the hierarchical order to file an RTI for any information in governmental institutions.
Sangto Longchar, DDLSA panel lawyer, has highlighted on consumers rights.
Summing up the programme, Ajongba Imchen, chief judicial magistrate and DDLSA secretary, explained on how legal aid could be availed by common people. He also highlighted on the main purpose of organising legal awareness seminar. He has further stressed on fundamental rights and duties of the citizens, village council members rights and duties, child trafficking and women’s rights.
The programme was chaired by Nancy, coordinator of Sisterhood Network, while the invocation was said by Pur Lemtur, associate pastor.
