Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): The Tuensang District Legal Service Authority (TDLSA) organised a training programme for Gaon Bura (GB) and Dobashi (DB) of Panso circle on March 28 in Tuensang.
A press release from the TDLSA informed on Monday that the extra additional commissioner of Panso, Seyiekhrietuo Solo, spoke about the importance of the training programme with the GB and DB which he said would help them in their customary court proceedings.
Solo referred to rules of justice and police administration in Nagaland and to Article 371 of the constitution in which the protection of custom, practice, and tradition are guaranteed.
The press release stated that Victo Sema, the chairman of the PDLSA gave a brief background about the customary court and its functions in the state. Sema highlighted the proceedings to be followed by customary courts in comparison to that of judicial courts.
Talking about the authority of GB and DB, the release informed that N Kano, secretary of the TDLSA mentioned the rules for justice and police in the state. He said that GB and similar village authorities were the designated rural police. They have the power to arrest any criminal and repress disorder within their respective jurisdiction.
