Imphal, Nov. 23 (EMN): Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Th Shyamkumar on Friday inaugurated a rural market shed constructed under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme at Vakho village, about 65 km north of Imphal in Senapati district.
Speaking at the function held at the community hall of the village, Minister Shyamkumar said that the rural market shed was inaugurated so that locally grown vegetables and other produces can be sold at the market and also to ease the problems of the villagers thus helping them to boost their income and provide livelihood.
Stating that the Horticulture and Soil Conservation department aims to provide benefits to the people equally at the hills and the valley, he said that the department will construct rural market sheds and implement other schemes at suitable areas.
Seeking support from the locals in implementing the initiatives of the state government in the developmental work, he appealed the villagers and people of Senapati to cooperate with the commuters along the National Highway.
“Development can be brought if there is no division among communities and if the state government takes up necessary action on time,” he said said.
