Mengujuma, Dec. 27 (EMN): A village called Mengujuma in the western Angami region of Kohima district has a new playground. The playground was inaugurated by Kevisekho Kruse, a retired chief engineer of the Public Health Engineering department.
In his address, Kruse lauded the village’s leaders for ‘coming up with the playground’ which he said was a ‘first step toward encouraging the youth to take part in games and sports activities.’ He challenged the youths to avail the benefits and opportunities given to them. The chief guest expressed hope that sportspersons would be able to utilize the facilities to their advantage and excel in the field.
Now with the completion of the playground, he said, “It is a sign of unity among the villagers and the presence of good leadership...inauguration of the new playground speaks volume of unity among the villagers. This initiative is a sign of progress and integrity and a positive step for the future generation.”
The secretary of the Village Development Board Pelesavi Rürhie, who presided over the programme, informed that the development of the playground was undertaken under a plan of the MGNREGA 2015-2016. He informed that it took a year to complete the ground.
The village council’s chairman, Thepfusatuo Sechü, has lauded all the villagers for their help and support to the venture.
The inauguration coincided with the annual sports meet of the Mengujuma Youth Organisation.
