With the commencement of violence from underground groups in the state, the state government has ordered village guards across the state to be vigilant and protect their respect villages in any case and situation.
Post Commanders of Village Guards in the ranges or sectors across the state of the administrative headquarters have been directed to issue strict instructions to the Village Guard personnel not to misuse service arms ‘in any manner’. They are also ordered to inspect the arms and ammunition and keep a record of it.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of headquarters Anthony Ngullie has also directed the Village Guards to assist the police, security personnel, and the district administration as and when necessary.
The Village Guards have also been asked to remain alert and vigilant for any untoward situations that may arise in the locality even as the state has gone into turmoil. The Village Guards have been ordered to protect the respective villages at any cost if situation demands.
The directives from the government on Wednesday were issued following the state’s law and order and security departments holding a meeting with the parliamentary secretary for Village Guards, DBs and GBs, in the presence of all the Village Guard commanders on May 5. The meeting had discussed the prevailing law and order situation in the state.
