Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): A small village in Phek district has now a healthcare centre. The mission director of the National Health Mission for Nagaland, Dr. Kevichusa Medikhrü, inaugurated a sub-centre at Leshemi village in Phek on Oct. 6. It was the first healthcare facility that was provided for the villagers of Leshemi, available information said.
Addressing the villagers, Medikhrü called upon them to take ownership of the health centre and make it their responsibility in maintaining and also in extending their full cooperation with the department.
Medikhrü appealed them to be involved in the future progress of the sub-centre by lending their full support to the staff posted in the sub-centre so that one day the centre can become a delivery point and further be upgraded in the coming days.
The officer also highlighted about the ongoing Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) in the state, saying that the vaccine was ‘beneficial for the future generation.’ He challenged the villagers to make Leshemi village achieve 100% coverage of the MRVC, including routine immunisation.
The land for construction of sub-centre, including a staff quarter was donated by the villagers.
