Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NStCB), in collaboration with BDO Shamator, organised a financial literacy camp for village development boards (VDBs) on October 3 in Shamator town.
In a meeting chaired by Nungsangtsungba, SO, the welcome address was delivered by Helimong, president of VDBs’ Union Shamator, wherein he thanked the NStCB and BDO for organising such programme to create awareness among the villagers.
A DIPR report stated that VK Disong, AGM, NSCB, emphasised on how VDB could act as mini bank in a village thereby reliving the villagers from the clutches of money lenders. He also shared various schemes offered by the banks.
Takotoshi Jamir, BDO Shamator, in his speech, asked the villagers to maintain books of account properly and to speed up opening of bank account under job cards.
Shamator block covers 10 villages and NSCB covers the whole of Tuensang district with one branch in Tuensang town. The meeting ended with vote of thanks was delivered by BDO Shamator.
